Movement of the machine could result in death or personal injury. Shut the 3208T (Engine B) diesel engine down. Tag the machine controls. Lock the main battery switch at OFF before starting work.
The rotating cutter could cause death or injury. Disengage the cutter clutch. Shut the 3412 cutter engine (Engine A) down. Tag the engine control before working on or near the cutter.
The cutter drum can be removed from the housing when the housing is mounted on the machine or after the housing has been removed from the machine. If the housing is not mounted on the machine, a method of lifting the housing off the cutter drum must be available. Otherwise the procedures are the same.
The cutter drum can be hot enough to cause serious burns, let the cutter drum cool before removing bits.
1. With the side shields on the ground, remove the nuts from the side shield retaining rods.2. Raise the mainframe to the upper limits and move the side shields away.3. Lower the mainframe until the cutter is resting on the ground.4. Shut the 3208T (Engine B) engine OFF.5. Switch the main disconnect OFF.
