Lower the screed to the ground.
Turn off the engine.

Loosen nut (1).
Null the screed using the thickness controls.

Disconnect the harness assembly for the light on the back side of cover (2).
Remove the eight bolts, the eight washers, and cover (2).

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove the retaining ring and pin (3).

Remove two bolts (4), the two spacers, and thickness control (5).Installation Procedure
Install thickness control (5) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the two spacers on bolts (4).
Tighten two bolts (4) to a torque of 250 40 N m (184 30 lb ft).
Tighten nut (1) to a torque of 60 12 N m (44 9 lb ft).
