Disconnect lubrication hose assembly (1) .

Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to boom cylinder (4) .
Remove three bolts (2) and the washers. Remove retainer plate (3) and the spacer.
Repeat step 6 in order to remove the retainer plate on the opposite boom cylinder.

Make sure that the threaded puller hole in the end of support pin (5) is clean. Fasten Tooling (A) to the side opposite of the boom cylinder that is being removed. Fasten a lifting sling and a hoist to Tooling (A) for support. Use Tooling (A) in order to pull support pin (5) out of the rod end of the boom cylinder.

Lower the boom cylinder onto Tooling (B). Adjust the height of Tooling (B) so the cylinder is level.

Note: Cap the ends of all the fittings in order to prevent oil loss. This will also keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system.Note: Disconnecting the four hoses to the boom cylinders allows access to the boom cylinder pin.
Remove sixteen bolts (6), the washers and the split flanges in order to disconnect the four hoses to the boom cylinder lines.

Remove eight bolts (7), the washers, and the split flanges. Remove two hose assemblies (8) that go to the boom cylinder that is being removed.

Remove two bolts (9) and the washers. Remove clamp (10) .

Remove four bolts (13) and the washers. Remove tube assembly (14) .

Note: Mark the location of the support assembly for installation purposes.
Remove four bolts (15) and the washers. Remove two support assemblies (16) .

Fasten tooling (C) to pin assembly (18), as shown. Remove pin assembly (18) and the spacer. The weight of the pin assembly and the tooling is approximately 75 kg (165 lb).
Remove boom cylinder (5). The weight of the boom cylinder is approximately 555 kg (1223 lb).Note: Machines may be equipped with shims between the boom cylinder and the frame at the pin joint.
Remove the shims (if equipped) at the connection point of the boom cylinder and frame.
