Remove the belt belts. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Belts - Inspect/Adjust/Replace".
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Disconnect springs (1). Remove bolts (2) and bracket assembly (3). Secure idler pulley (4) out of the way.

Note: Mark the position of the pulley on the shaft.
Attach a suitable lifting device onto pulley (5). The weight of pulley (5) is approximately 39 kg (85 lb).
Remove bolts (6) .

Use bolts (6) as pusher bolts to separate pulley (5) from bushing (7) .

Remove pulley (5) .

Measure the distance from the outer edge of bushing (7) to the end of stub shaft (8). Record the measurement as Dimension (X) for installation purposes.
Remove set screw (9). Remove bushing (7) and key (10) .

Mark the alignment of stub shaft (8), and damper assembly (11) for installation purposes.
Remove two of bolts (12) that are equally spaced.

Note: Tooling (A) must be modified to be used as guide studs.
Remove the heads of Tooling (A). Use the modified bolts as guide studs.
Install Tooling (A). Remove the remaining bolts (12). Remove stub shaft (8) .

Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to remove damper assembly (11). The weight of damper assembly (11) is approximately 181 kg (400 lb).Installation Procedure
Install damper assembly (11) in the reverse order of removal.Note: The alignment marks on the crankshaft and the damper must be aligned.
Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 90 10 N m (66 7 lb ft).
Install bushing (7) to Dimension (X). Dimension (X) should measure 34 mm (1 inch).
