Adjustment procedure applies to both ON and OFF machine. If adjustment is made on machine, the parking brake and the service brake must be released. To release the brake, see the topic TOWING in the Systems Operation, Testing And Adjusting (Air System And Brakes). To release the parking brake, remove the bleed valve from opening (A), marked "P" and connect a manual or electric hydraulic pump to the opening. Operate the pump until the brake is released.
If it becomes necessary to change the parking brake release circuit with an outside hydraulic source, DO NOT use over 4150 kPa (600 psi). More than 4150 kPa (600 psi) can damage seals and other parts in the circuit.
Adjustment Procedure.
1. Install the rear retainer, seal, wheel, bearings and final drive hub in position on the spindle housing. Use only 1D4609 Bolts (8) (have no lockpatch) when performing the steps to determine the required shim pack thickness. Use new 1D4609 Bolts (8) for the final assembly.2. Using five bolts (8) equally spaced, assemble retainer (1) without shims (7) to the spindle housing.3. Evenly torque bolts (8) to 200 N m (150 lb ft).4. Rotate the wheel two revolutions to seat the bearings.5. Retorque bolts (8) to 200 N m (150 lb ft).6. Completely loosen bolts (8) to remove the torque. Once loosened, evenly torque bolts (8) to 80 N m (60 lb ft).7. Rotate the wheel two revolutions.8. Retorque bolts (8) to 80 N m (60 lb ft).9. Rotate the wheel two revolutions again10. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 until there is no further movement of bolts (8) when the specified torque is applied.11. Use depth micrometer (2) to measure the distance from
