Installation Procedure
Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement. Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install O-ring seal (3) to the axle housing.

Attach nylon lifting straps and a lift truck to axle housing (2) , as shown. Use the lift truck in order to position the axle housing to the differential case.
Install 22 bolts (1) and the washers that secure the axle housing to the differential case. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 300 60 N m (221 44 lb ft) in an alternating star pattern. Tighten the bolts again to a torque of 430 60 N m (317 44 lb ft) in an alternating star pattern.
Remove the nylon lifting straps and the lift truck from the machine.End By: Install the service brakes. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Service Brakes - Install". The information is in this manual.
