Remove Tilt And Tip Cylinders (824C)
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system before any hydraulic lines are removed or disconnected. The bulldozer blade must be level and on the ground before the cylinder is removed.
1. Remove three bolts and nuts (2), then remove guard assembly (1) from the cylinder. 2. Disconnect hydraulic lines (3) from the cylinder. Put caps in openings in the hydraulic lines and cylinder. 3. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder. Remove four bolts (5), nuts, washers, shims and caps (4). Remove cover (9) to let oil drain from cylinder. Retract cylinder and move it free of the bulldozer blade.
Retract cylinder very slowly because the oil in the cylinder will be under pressure.
4. Remove cotter pin (7), pin (8) and pin (6) from the cylinder. Remove cylinder (10). Weight of the cylinder is 240 lb. (108 kg).Install Tilt And Tip Cylinders (824C)
1. Fasten a hoist to cylinder (4) in position on push arm. Install pin (1), pin (3) and cotter pin (2) that hold cylinder to push arm. Install cover (5) on the cylinder. 2. Remove caps from the openings in the hydraulic lines and cylinder. Connect hydraulic lines (6) to the cylinder. Extend the cylinder rod until caps (7), shims, washers, nuts and bolts (8) can be put into position. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 265 35 lb.ft. (360 50 N m). 3. Install guard assembly (9) on cylinder with the nuts and bolts that hold it.Disassemble Tilt And Tip Cylinders (824C)
1. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder and install cylinder (1) on tooling (A) as shown. 2. Slowly extend rod (2) until it is fully extended. 3. Install support (3) and strap (4) on rod in position as shown. 4. Remove bolts (5) from the cylinder head. Remove rod and head from the cylinder. 5. Install tooling (B) and remove nut and washer from the cylinder piston. 6. Remove piston (6) from rod. 7. Remove two seal assemblies (7) and wear ring (8) from piston (6). 8. Remove head (9) from the cylinder rod. 9. Remove O-ring seal (10) and back-up ring from behind O-ring seal. 10. Remove bolts (12) to remove retainer (11) and shims. 11. Remove lip seal (13) from retainer. 12. Remove seal and packing (14) from the head.13. Remove bearing from cylinder arm with tooling (C).Assemble Tilt And Tip Cylinders (824C)
1. Use tooling (B) to install bearing in cylinder arm. 2. Install packing and seal (1) in head assembly. 3. Install seal in retainer with tooling (C). Install seal with lip toward the outside. 4. Install shims (3) and retainer (2) on the head assembly. 5. Install back-up ring and O-ring seal (4) on head assembly. 6. Install tool (D) on the cylinder rod, then install head assembly (5) on the cylinder rod. 7. Use tool (E) to cause expansion of the piston seals. Install seals (6) on the piston. 8. Install wear ring (7) on the piston. 9. Install piston assembly (8) on the
