4. Install tooling (A) and remove the bearing from the shaft.5. Remove the Duo-Cone seal from the bearing and bushing. 6. Remove bolts (3) that hold the bushing to the idler.7. Turn the idler over. Do Steps 1 through 6 to the opposite side of the idler.8. Remove bushings and shaft (4) from the idler with a press. Remove O-ring seals (5) from the shaft. 9. Remove bushings (6) from bushings (8) with a press.10. Cut pins (7) off even with the face of the bushings. Make the surfaces of the bushings smooth with a file. The following steps are for the assembly of the front idlers. 11. Put the oil holes in the bushings in alignment. Install bushings (6) into bushings (8) with a press.12. Drill two 7.54 mm (.297 in) holes 180° apart and (19.05 mm) deep through bushings (6) and (8). Do not drill the holes through the lubrication grooves in bushings (6).13. Install two new pins (7) in each bushing even with the outside face of bushing (6).14. Inspect the O-ring seals on the bushings. Install new seals as needed. Put oil on the seals and contact surfaces of the bushings and idler. 15. Install one of the bushings in the idler with tooling (B) and a press. Install the bolts in the bushing. 16. Turn the idler over on its opposite side. Install shaft (4) in the bushing. Install the other bushing with tooling (B) and a press. Install the bolts in the bushing. 17. Install indicator group (C) and check the end clearance between the shaft and the bushings. The clearance must be 0.51 0.23 mm (.020 .009 in).

The rubber seals and all surfaces that make contact with the seals must be clean and dry. After the installation of the seals, put oil on the contact surfaces of the metal seals.18. Install the Duo-Cone seal in the bushing bearing with tool (D).19. Inspect O-ring seal (9). Install a new seal if necessary. Put clean oil on the seal. 20. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the contact surfaces of the shaft and bearing. Install bearing (1) on the shaft. Make sure the groove on the shaft is in alignment with the hole in the bearing.21. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the lock. Install lock (10) on the bearing. Install washer and bolt (11) in the lock. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 54 N m (40 lb ft). Hit the lock with a hammer and a punch. Tighten the bolt again to a torque of 70 15 N m (50 11 lb ft).22. Turn the idler over. Do Steps 18 through 21 to the opposite side of the idler. 23. Put the idler in position so that the shaft is in a vertical position. Remove plug (12) from the shaft. Install the nozzle with tool (E). Fill the idler with oil. Remove
