Type of motor ... pistonDisplacement ... 934 cm3/rev (57 in3/rev)Oil capacity of motor casing ... 1.3 liter (.34 U.S. gallon)Motor rotation can be clockwise or counterclockwise when seen from drive end.For bench test, use Service Classification ISO 3448 type VG 46 (SAE 20W) hydraulic oil. The oil must be certified to have anti-rust, very high viscosity index and anti-oxidation additive properties for heavy duty use.(1) Torque for bolts that hold the motor together ... 100 N m (75 lb ft)(2) Shim set 5E8273 for bearing preload adjustment: Four shims, thickness ... 0.05 mm (.002 in)Twenty shims, thickness ... 0.10 mm (.004 in)The required quantity and total thickness of shims (2) is obtained by measuring the clearance between spacer (4) and snap ring (3). Then add 0.15 mm (.006 in) to this dimension.(5) Torque for flange nuts ... 314 N m (235 lb ft)Parking Brake Assembly For Front Drum Propulsion Motor
General Specifications for brake unit: Brake capacity ... 100 cm3 (6.1 in3)Brake release displacement ... 41 cm3 (2.5 in3)Braking torque ... 5520 N m (4090 lb ft)Brake release pressure ... 1200 to 3100 kPa (175 to 450 psi)(1) Spring washer: Length under test force ... 7.37 mm (.290in)Test force ... 16 700 N (3755 lb.)Free length after test ... 9.9 mm (.390 in)Outside diameter ... 160 mm (6.299 in)(3) Shim set 5E8283: Five shims, thickness ... 0.2 mm (.007 in)Two shims, thickness ... 0.1 mm (.040 in)(4) Torque for screw ... 120 N m (90 lb ft)(7) Thickness of ten plates and nine discs: Minimum ... 34.50 mm (1.358 in)Maximum ... 35.50 mm (1.398 in)Minimum permissible thickness of nine discs ... 19.80 mm (.780 in)Minimum permissible thickness of ten plates ... 14.70 mm (.579 in)Thickness of one new plate ... 1.500 0.025 mm (.0590 .0010 in)Thickness of one new disc ... 2.225 0.025 mm (.0876 .0010 in)Brake Piston Group Adjustment Procedure
Brake piston adjustment is necessary each time the brake group is disassembled and/or when the brake disc pack is replaced. Correct brake adjustment is obtained through the use of shim set (3). The thickness of shims (3) which are to be used, is taken from measurement (X) minus 13.4 mm (.53 in).a. Install complete disc assembly. Start with plate (5) then install disc (6), another plate and a disc until they are all in place.b. Do not install shims (3). Place brake piston (2) on the disc assembly without an O-ring.c. With a press, compress brake piston (2) and the disc pack with a force of 30 000 N (6750 lb).d. Install snap ring (8).e. Measure distance (X). Then subtract 13.4 mm (.53 in). The result is the thickness shims (3) needed to be installed.
During installation of the brake piston into the housing, be careful not to damage the brake piston O-ring. The brake piston will fit tightly in the housing.
f. Remove the snap ring and brake piston. Install a new O-ring in the brake housing on the O-ring ledge. Apply a generous amount
