Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
On certain C27, C32, 3500, and C175 generator set engines, using jacket water heaters, the terminal screws on the contactor that is inside the jacket water heater control box may not be properly tightened. This may result in a loose connection causing over-heating, and could lead to wire and/or terminal damage.Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility.

Illustration 2 g06284822Tighten all 4 contactor screws found on the input side and output side of the 332-1131 Contactor and 351-9037 Contactor. These contactors use box lug style terminals. Verify the wire size at each connection. Where 10 AWG wires are connected tighten the screws to 2.8 N m (25 lb in). Where 8 AWG wires are connected tighten the screws to 4.5 N m (40 lb in).Note: A Pozi-Driv® #2 screwdriver bit should be used to tighten these screws. Screws should be periodically retightened as part of normal and scheduled maintenance.

Tighten the screws to 1.7 N m (15 lb in). Verify the wire size at each connection. This torque specification applies to 8 AWG through 14 AWG wire sizes.Note: A Pozi-Driv® #2 screwdriver bit should be used to tighten these screws. Screws should be periodically retightened as part of normal and scheduled maintenance.
