Disconnect the line from the stick cylinder. Disconnect the line from the stick control valve.

Installation of the Load control valve on the stick cylinderInstall the 250-1440 Adapter As (75) on the 251-8120 Load Control Valve Gp (94). Use the two 5P-0599 Band Clamps (78) to install the 251-8120 Load Control Valve Gp (94) on the stick cylinder.

Tee in the pilot pressure for the control of the stick retractThe stick control valve RETRACT position provides the pilot pressure in order to open the load control valve. The position of the tee is located on the bottom of the stick control valve.Bleeding Pilot Lines
Before initial operation, the pilot lines must be purged in order to remove air.

The location of the purging screw on the boom valveThe purging screw for the boom load control valve is located on the top surface of the load control valve. Attach a clear plastic hose in order to see air bubbles that come out of the valve. Operate the control lever for the boom lower to open pilot pressure to the load control valve. Do not cause cylinder movement. Then open the purging screw in order to start oil flow. When a steady stream of oil flows from the valve, close the purging screw.Repeat this procedure on the load control valve for the stick. Use the stick retract to initiate pilot pressure.

Cross section of a typical load control valveIllustration 34 shows the location of the adjustment screw for pilot pressure (97) and the spring for pilot pressure (96). This is not the correct cross section for the valve that will be adjusted on the 446D. The illustration provides a general picture of the parts in the valve.
Adjust the pilot pressure so the pressure for opening the load control valve is less than the pressure for opening the main stem. There is a washer in front of the hex socket in the adjustment screw.
