Assembly Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Verify that all of the components of the modulating valve for the torque converter lockup clutch are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install O-ring seal (19), seat (18), ball (17), and O-ring seal (16) to cartridge assembly (11) .
Tighten seat (18) to a torque of 19 4 N m (14 3 lb ft).

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install O-ring seal (15) to body (8) .
Install spring (9), spool assembly (10), cartridge assembly (11), lockup clutch solenoid (12), spacer (13), and locknut (14) to body (8) .
Tighten cartridge assembly (11) to a torque of 50 5 N m (37 4 lb ft).
Tighten locknut (14) to a torque of 14 1.5 N m (10 1 lb ft).
Install O-ring seal (7), nipple assembly (6), and dust cap (5) to body (8) .
Tighten nipple assembly (6) to a torque of 14 4 N m (10 3 lb ft).

Position modulating valve (4) for the torque converter lockup clutch to modulating valve manifold (2) .
Install two bolts (3) and the washers that secure modulating valve (4) for the torque converter lockup clutch to modulating valve manifold (2) .
Install fitting (1) and the O-ring seal to modulating valve manifold (2) .End By: Install the modulating valve for the torque converter lockup clutch. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Modulating Valve (Torque Converter Lockup Clutch) - Install".
