Extending Tilt Cylinder
Tilt the blade to the right or the left until the extending cylinder completes the stroke. Measure the remaining stroke in the cylinder that is retracting .
Multiply the measurement that was obtained in Step 1 by 0.464. The product from this calculation will be referred to as distance (X) .
Scribe marks on the left and right push arms (2) in order to indicate the current position of the brackets.
Remove the right and left tilt cylinders.
Use a cutting torch in order to remove the right and left brackets (1) from push arms (2). Be careful not to damage the brackets or the push arms. Be careful not to remove the scribe marks.
Grind the push arms. Use welding rod to fill any pits in push arms (2) in order to ensure a smooth mounting surface for the brackets. Remove all paint from the work area.
Measure the distance (X) forward from the scribe mark. Put a new scribe mark on the right and left push arms.
Place the right and left brackets at the new scribe marks. Tack weld the brackets to the push arms.
Weld the right and left brackets to the push arms. Use a E7018 low hydrogen electrode. Weld both sides of the bracket with a 10 mm (0.4 inch) fillet weld and 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) penetration.
Install both tilt cylinders. Purge the air from the system.
Verify that the tilt cylinders are cycling correctly.
Clean all work areas. Paint the work areas.
