2. Position a suitable floor jack under power train guard (1), and remove eight bolts (2) and the washers. If necessary, remove two bolts (3) and the spacers to remove the power train guard from the engine end frame. Remove guard (1). The weight of the guard is 115 kg (253 lb). 3. Use a suitable floor jack, a wood block, and a V-block secured to it, as shown, to support the rear drive shaft during its removal. Remove eight bolts (4) from drive shaft (5). Lower and remove the drive shaft. The weight of the drive shaft is 61 kg (135 lb).
When the rear drive shaft is installed it must be installed in phase with the front and center drive shafts. Be sure all joint groups, yokes and lubrication fittings (front, center, and rear) are in alignment with each other.
Illustration 24. Install the rear drive shaft in the reverse order of removal. Tighten eight bolts (4) to a torque of 530 70 Nm (400 50 lb ft).
