Maneuver around large objects to load or unload. Driving over large objects may damage the transmission case.
When you come to the cut, reduce travel speed by using the service brake or the retarder. The transmission will downshift automatically.

Move the switch for the cushion-hitch to the OFF position in order to make a smooth cut.
Move the ejector to the rear of the bowl.
Open the apron partially.

When the transmission downshifts to the desired speed, move the transmission hold control to the ENGAGEDposition.
Maintain the engine rpm within the operating range. Start the cut. Maintain a constant speed while the machine that is pushing the wheel tractor-scraper contacts the wheel tractor-scraper.
Lower the bowl to a cutting depth that is efficient for loading the material .Note: The cut should be shallow enough to allow the machine to move at a constant speed. If the cut is too deep, the engine may lug. Excessive tire slippage may also occur.Decrease the cutting depth if the engine begins to lug or if the tires slip.Use first speed if more torque is required at the wheels.Note: Shift the transmission to the NEUTRAL position, if you are loading the machine in rocky conditions. This will allow the machine that is pushing the wheel tractor-scraper to provide all of the drive power. Maintain the engine speed above 1500 rpm. This will provide the best hydraulic control response.

Use the differential lock control in order to prevent one wheel from spinning independently. If the tires slip in soft material, reduce the engine speed.Note: Do not engage the differential lock control while a wheel is spinning.
If wheel slippage continues and the differential lock is engaged, allow the machine that is pushing the wheel tractor-scraper to provide all of the drive power.
Use the router bits to determine the most efficient cutting depth. Use this cutting depth on successive passes.Note: Keep the apron open in order to prevent material from piling in front of the lip or from falling out of the bowl.
Drive the machine straight during loading.
Do not overload the bowl. Overloading the bowl lowers machine efficiency and overloading the bowl can cause the machine to overload.
When the bowl is full, raise the bowl slowly in order to keep the cut smooth.
Close the apron. Move the apron control to the FLOAT position.
Release the differential lock control. Accelerate to travelling speed.
Move the switch for the cushion-hitch to the ON position in order to increase operator comfort.Loading in Sand or in Loose Material
Raise the bowl rapidly and lower the bowl rapidly. This will load loose material. Close the apron as the bowl is being raised. Move the apron control to the FLOAT position. This will prevent material spillage.
Allow the machine that is pushing the wheel tractor-scraper to help the loaded machine move out of the cut, if necessary.
