Introduction
This Technical Information Bulletin provides information for configuration parameters on the transmissions that are listed above.Problem
The configurable parameter "Reference Torque" in the Transmission ECM may appear as "Invalid Data". The parameter appears in versions 2008A and later versions of the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) on transmissions that were flashed with a software version of 320-7504 or an earlier version. The parameter setting of "Invalid Data" prevents the ability to reprogram the "Reference Torque" value. Normal operation is not affected. Reprogramming the "Reference Torque" is not necessary if the transmission is matched with a Caterpillar engine. Also, the configurable parameter "Reference Torque" does not display the correct units for the transmissions. The units are incorrect in versions 2008C and later versions of the Cat ET on transmissions that were flashed with a software version of 336-3553 or an earlier version.Solution
The "Reference Torque" value can be unlocked by using Cadet Secure or by using a version of 2007C Cat ET and earlier. You must unlock the parameter in order to change the parameter if the transmission is configured to match an engine that is an approved non-Caterpillar engine. Contact the Technical Communicator at your local Caterpillar dealership for further instructions. The configurable parameter "Reference Torque" must be programmed in lb*ft if the transmission is matched with a non-Caterpillar engine. Ignore the units. Refer to the following table for the correct torque value:
