Cracking of the liner flange is occurring after engine rebuilds. Liner flange breakage can result in rapid coolant loss, engine misfire, and/or engine overheating.Solution
In order to understand the root cause and the scope, perform the following steps to provide information that is needed:

Bottom view of cylinder liner (1) Date code (2) Serial number
Record the date code and the serial number from the bottom side of the failed liner.
Record the date code and the serial number from the bottom side of the cylinder liners that have not failed.
Record the engine serial number and miles since rebuild.
Record the number of failed cylinder liners with shims or insert.
Record the number of failed cylinder liners without shims or liners.
Record if the cylinder block is inserted where the cylinder liner failed. If so, record the part number of the shim or insert that was used. Also, record the thickness of the shim or insert.
Submit a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) Tier 2 request.
Retain the parts. A parts return will be issued.
