Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Use caps and plugs on all lines, hoses, and tubes in order to prevent fluid loss or contamination of the systems.
Open the engine hood. The fuel transfer pump is located on the left side of the machine.

Disconnect tube assemblies (2) and (4) from the fuel transfer pump (3) .
Remove two bolts (1) from the fuel transfer pump (3). Remove the O-ring seal from the fuel transfer pump (3) .Installation Procedure
Check the condition of the O-ring seal. If the seal is worn or damaged, replace the seal.

Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal. Install the O-ring seal on the fuel transfer pump (3). Install the fuel transfer pump (3) with two bolts (1) .
Connect tube assemblies (2) and (4) to the fuel transfer pump (3) .
Close the engine hood.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
