Generator StatorConstruction Of The Rotor
The rotor consists of the following parts:

poles
windings
fansThe shaft is machined from steel stock or the shaft is made from forged steel.

Generator RotorThe poles are made of laminations that are held together with rivets or bolts. Damper bars are inserted below the surface of the pole's face. These bars are welded to end rings or these bars are welded to end plates.The field windings are made up of insulated copper wire. These windings are wound on the laminated poles. Damper bars are inserted below the surface of the pole's face. These bars are brazed to conductive end plates. The entire assembly is thenvacuum pressure impregnated with 100% epoxy resin. The rotor assembly is shrunk and keyed on the shaft. The rotor is dynamically balanced to very precise limits. This balancing ensures compliance to NEMA and IEC standards. These limits also ensure a long bearing life. The fan is mounted on the drive end of a shaft. Also, the fan is dynamically balanced.Rotating Field Assembly

The brushless exciter is an inverted synchronous AC generator. The field windings are stationary. The three-phase armature windings rotate with the generator's rotor. A full-wave rectifier bridge rectifies the AC output to a DC output. The exciter armature is built of laminations. These laminations are riveted together under pressure. A three-phase winding is inserted in the slots. The entire assembly is vacuum pressure impregnated with 100% epoxy resin. The exciter armature is pressed on a tube and keyed in position on the shaft.A three-phase full-wave rectifier is made of three forward and three reverse diodes. These diodes are mounted on two separate rings. The rings act as negative heat sinks and positive heat sinks. The rectifier assembly is keyed on the same tubing as the exciter armature. The exciter armature and rectifier assembly are dynamically balanced. The sleeve tubing is keyed on the main rotor shaft.

Brushless Excitation System The exciter stator is built of laminations that are stacked under pressure and welded. Field windings are inserted.
