start by: a) remove rear axles1. Move the foot brake (with engine stopped) several times to release all pressure in the brake system. 2. Remove the transmission guard (2) with jack (A). Weight of guard is 450 lb. (204 kg).3. Drain the oil from the rear axle housing. 4. Put a floor jack in position under the drive shaft. Remove the bolts (1) and drive shaft (3). Weight of drive shaft is 95 lb. (43 kg). 5. Remove oil filler tube (7) from rear axle.6. Disconnect lubrication lines (8) from top of rear support (6).7. Disconnect lubrication line from top of front support.8. Disconnect brake oil line from top of axle housing.9. Put a transmission jack in position under the differential. Fasten the jack to the differential.10. Put a block on each side of the two rear tires. Remove the bolts (9) and (10) that hold the front and rear support to the frame.11. Install tooling (B) under rear of machine. Lift the rear of machine about 8 in. (20.3 cm). Move the axle housing and wheels to the rear of machine as far as possible.12. Remove the bolts (4) that hold the carrier to the axle housing. Install three of the bolts in forcing screw holes (5) and remove the differential from the axle housing. Weight of rear differential is 1200 lb. (544 kg).Install Rear Differential And Carrier
1. Remove the cover (1) and shims from the rear axle housing.2. Put the differential in position in the axle housing with a transmission jack.3. Install the bolts that hold the carrier to the axle housing. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 350 35 lb.ft. (48.4 4.8 mkg).4. Remove the block from under front of tires and move the axle housing into position under machine. 5. Lower the rear of machine on to axle housing. Install the bolts in the two supports. Tighten the nuts on the bolts to a torque of 825 75 lb.ft. (114.1 10.4 mkg). Remove tooling (A) from machine.6. Install cover (1) without shims. Tighten the two bolts enough to remove any clearance between the pin and cover. Measure the distance between cover and axle housing. Remove cover.7. Install cover (1) with shims equal in thickness to the measured distance plus .002 .001 in. (0.05 0.03 mm).8. Connect the brake line to top of axle housing.9. Connect the lubrication lines on top of the two supports.10. Put the drive shaft into position with a floor jack. Install the bolts and tighten to a torque of 225 20 lb.ft. (31.2 2.8 mkg).11. Install filler pipe on rear axle. Install the transmission guard with jack (A). 12. Fill the rear axle housing with oil to the correct level.
