Remove & Install Raw Water Pump (Compact Marine Engine)
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. 2. Remove line (2). Cap and plug all openings immediately.3. Remove three nuts, bolts and washers (1).4. Remove raw water pump (3) and gasket. Upon installation, replace the gasket with a new part. It may be necessary to turn the crankshaft slightly to relieve the pressure between the drive gear and the raw water pump gear. For installation of the raw water pump, reverse the removal steps.5. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual.Disassemble Raw Water Pump (Compact Marine Engine)
Start By:a. remove raw water pump 1. Remove nut (1) hold gear (2) in place. 2. Install Tool (A) with two suitable size bolts and washers and remove gear (2). 3. Remove five bolts and washers (3).4. Remove cover (4). 5. Remove O-ring seal (5).6. Remove cam assembly and impeller (6) as a unit. 7. Remove O-ring seal (7) and plate (8).8. Remove O-ring seal (9) from cam assembly (6). 9. Remove retaining ring (10) with Tool (B).10. Remove the washer, retainer and spring, all part of seal assembly (11). 11. Remove three bolts (13). Partially separate housing (12) from body (14). This will unseat the bottom part of seal assembly (11). Remove the bottom part of seal assembly (11) from the shaft and separate housing (12) from the body (14). 12. Remove ceramic seal, [part of seal assembly (11)] from body (14). 13. Remove seal (15) from the shaft. 14. Use Tool (C) to remove retaining ring (16) from housing (12). Use a soft faced hammer to tap the shaft and bearing assembly out of the housing. 15. Remove seal (17) and washer (18) from housing (12). 16. Use Tool (D) and a press as shown to remove bearing (20) and spacer (21) from shaft (19). 17. Use Tool (B) to remove retaining ring (23).18. 1. Use Tool (A) to install the seal in housing (1). Make sure the lip of the seal is toward the bearing bore. Put 1P-808 General Purpose Lubricanton the lip of the seal. 2. Use Tool (B) and a press to install two bearings (2) and the spacer onto shaft (3). 3. Put 1P-808 General Purpose Lubricant on the bearings and in the bore of housing (2).4. Use a soft faced hammer to install shaft (3) and the bearings into housing (2). 5. Use Tool (C) to install retaining ring (4) into housing (2). 6. Inspect seal (5) for damage or wear and make a replacement if necessary.7. Put clean engine oil on seal (5) and install onto shaft (3). 8. Install housing (2) on body assembly (6) and install the bolts that hold them together. 9. Install seal (7) on shaft (3) with the polished carbon seal face of the seal toward the ceramic
