Machine Operation Recommendations
There are certain machine settings and operating techniques that may improve the shift quality on the M-Series Medium Wheel Loaders.Not using these techniques may result in less than optimal shift quality and generate operator complaints.
Operation with automatic shifting enabled generally provides the best performance and efficiency, however if unexpected shifts are causing complaints, automatic shifting can be disabled. If automatic shifting is enabled, ensure that the mode selected is appropriate for the operating conditions. Autoshift can be set to shift between gears 2-D, 1-D, 1-3 or 1-2.
The transmission neutralizer has three settings to match the slope conditions of the site. An incorrect setting can lead to jerkiness when the transmission is neutralized. The neutralizer can also be turned off if needed.
Using the left pedal while performing a direction change can result in increased shift harshness. The Transmission can shift at runout speed in second gear, so slowing the machine is not required before performing a 2-2 directional shift. In higher gears, the transmission software will downshift the machine as necessary to slow the machine before making the direction change. If IBS and/or the neutralizer are active, use of the left pedal will result in more transmission shifts occurring that can reduce the overall shift quality.
When performing direction shifts, the direction switch should be firmly pressed. This action ensures that the switch clicks into the opposite direction selection without pausing in the neutral position. If the switch momentarily stays in the neutral position, a shift to neutral may result before making the shift to the opposite direction. The result is an extra shift being performed that can reduce the overall shift quality.Transmission Auto/Manual Select

This button controls the manual and automatic shift modes of the transmission. The system will remember your transmission. The system will remember your transmission mode at the next start-up cycle. Push the button and release button to advance the setting until the desired transmission mode is active.The Left-Hand Steering Control modes are listed as follows:
Manual - No indicators will be illuminated.
Auto 2-D - Indicators B, C, D will be illuminated.
Auto 1-D - Indicators A, B, C, D will be illuminated.
Auto 1–3 - Indicators A, B, C will be illuminated.
Auto 1–2 - Indicators A, B will be illuminated.The steering wheel control modes are listed as follows:
