Solenoid Resistance Values
Temperature Resistance
−40° C (−40° F) 41.74 4.2 Ω
20° C (68° F) 31.4 Ω
121° C (249.8° F) 67 Ω Note: The diagram above is a simplified schematic of the ECM switch connections. The schematic is electrically correct, however, not all of the possible harness connectors are shown. Refer to the latest revision of Electrical Schematic, UENR6348 for the complete schematic.
Table 4
Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check the Harness For an Open
A. Turn key start switch and disconnect switch OFF.
B. Disconnect the retract and the extend solenoids from the machine harness.
C. disconnect the switch from the machine harness.
D. At the machine harness connector for the solenoids, place a jumper wire between the return contact on each solenoid.
E. At the machine harness connector for the switch, measure resistance between contacts 4 and 6.
The resistance is less than 5 Ω. OK - The circuit is correct.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5K Ω. The circuit is open.
Repair: Repair or replace the machine harness.
Note: A resistance that is greater than 5 Ω but less than 5K Ω indicates a loose connection or a corroded connection in the circuit. A resistance measurement that is greater than 5K Ω indicates an open in the circuit.

2. Check the Operation of the Switch.
A. The keyswitch remains OFF.
B. Check the operation of the switch. Refer to the table at the beginning of this procedure for switch operation.
The switch operates correctly. OK - The switch is operating correctly.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The switch is not operating correctly. The switch has failed
Repair: Replace the switch.
STOP
3. Check the Solenoids.
A. The keyswitch remains OFF.
B. At each solenoid, measure resistance from pin 1 to pin 2.
C. Refer to the table in the beginning of this procedure for correct resistance measurement.
Resistance measurements are correct. OK - The solenoid is operating correctly.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The solenoid is faulty.
Repair: Replace the solenoid.
STOP
9. Check if the fault remains.
A. Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires that are associated with the circuit.
B. Reconnect all harness connectors.
C. Turn key start switch and disconnect switch ON.
D. Attempt to operate the quick coupler system.
The system functions properly. OK - The system functions properly. Resume normal machine operation.
STOP
NOT OK - The problem persists. Contact you technical communicator at your dealership for further troubleshooting.
