You will require the following equipment to operate the FP40+:* A host computer with a compatible serial interface such as the FW300 handheld computer.* Paper suitable for use with the FP40+ (refer to page 8 for details of Radix-recommended paper types).* A charged battery, or an external power source operating a BE40 battery eliminator.
Note that Radix ships the printer with its battery in a discharged state-you must charge the battery before you can begin to use the printer normally. Refer to page 18 for instructions to do this.Once you have charged the battery, continue with the simple initial set up procedure, which should only take a short time to complete.Unpacking
Open the box that contains the FP40+ printer and check that it includes the following parts:* The FP40+ printer.* A rechargeable NiCd (nickel cadmium) battery.* Two end plugs for the paper roll.* Two rubber O-rings.Contact Radix Customer Services at the address for your area if any of the parts are missing or damaged. The Contact Details for Radix are at the beginning of this manual.
You should save the original packing materials used to transport the FP40+ to you in case you ever need to return the printer for repair or servicing. You will void the warranty conditions if you use inappropriate packing to transfer the printer.
