Group 7     463-6049     446-5912         Monitor Software Gp    Following items in the list below will cause the problem:
Navigating on the Messenger Display to Cross Slope > Grade Control Offset.
Pressing the Left/Right Buttons (2) (3) to change the Grade Control Offset value or leaving the value unchanged.
Without pressing the "OK" button (4), pressing the Back button (1) to exit the screen to abandon any changes and leave the screen.
The Grade Control Offset fails to maintain the previously applied value and the value will default to 5%.
The machine will only experience this faulty behavior a maximum of once for a particular key cycle. If the first entry into the Grade Control Offset screen after machine power-on is exited using the "OK" button (4), the faulty behavior that defaults the value to 5% when exiting using the Back button (1) will never be seen for that particular machine power sequence.
The machine will only experience this faulty behavior a maximum of once for a particular key cycle. If the first entry into the Grade Control Offset screen after machine power-on is exited using the Back button (1), the faulty behavior will default the value to 5% immediately but future sequences exiting the screen using the Back button (1) will not default the value to 5% for that particular machine power sequence.Solution
The permanent solution will be available in new software. This expected functionality of this feature will be included in the 2015A software release for Messenger Display software on Motor Graders.Until a permanent software solution is available, Caterpillar recommends the below solutions to work around the software bug.Whenever you make changes or view the Grade Control Offset screen, always exit the screen by pressing the "OK" button (4) to apply the highlighted value rather than pressing the Back button (1) to exit the Grade Control Offset screen which will set the default 5% value. The change to the Grade Control Offset may not be apparent until increasing or decreasing the cross slope or reviewing the parameter value. If the faulty behavior occurs once for a power instance of the machine, it will not happen again regardless of how the screen has been exited.
