Introduction
The problem that is identified below does have a known permanent solution. Use the solution that is identified below.The proper interval of draining water from 190-8970 Fuel Priming Pump Gp will prevent the fuel priming pump from malfunctioning.Problem
Reports have been received on the failures of the 190-8970 Fuel Priming Pump Gp . In several cases, water content was found in the drain bowl of water separator and fuel filter group causing corrosion or rust. The corrosion may lead to malfunction or short of the electrical components in the fuel priming pump housing.Solution
The following action should be performed:
Drain water from the bowl of water separator and fuel filter group for every 10 Hours of operation or daily. Refer Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Water Separator - Drain" for the above machines.

Water Separator and Fuel Filter Group (1) Element (2) Bowl (3) Drain
Monitor bowl (2) daily for signs of water. If water is present, proceed with Step 3.
Open the drain (3). The drain is a self-vented drain.
Collect the draining water in a suitable container.
Dispose the water properly and close drain (3) .
The water separator is under suction during normal engine operation. Ensure that the drain valve is tightened securely to help prevent air from entering the fuel system.
