Operation
Personal injury or death can result from lifting a heavy component. The heavy component can fall if using an incorrect hoist and/or sling or fastener to lift the load.Be sure the hoist and other devices have the correct lifting capacity to lift a heavy component. The approximate weight of the heavy component is given below.
Failure to comply to the rated load can cause possible personal injury or attachment damage.Review the rated load of a particular attachment before performing any operation. Make adjustments to the rated load as necessary.
The 436-0138 Adjustable C-Hook Extension is used as an extension tube for the 226-2380 C-Hook Lifting Device .The 436-0138 Adjustable C-Hook Extension weighs 105 kg (232 lbs).
Due to the shape and weight of this tool, use a suitable lifting device or get help when lifting the Adjustable C-Hook Extension Assembly.
Illustration 4 g03409211
Identify the load and weight of the machine component to be lifted. Do not exceed the Working Load Limit (WLL) of 1814 kg (4000 lb).
The tooling has an eyebolt for easy installation into the Adjustable C-Hook.
Illustration 5 g03409192
Connect the eyebolt to a suitable lifting device and slide the tooling onto the 226-2380 as shown in the illustration.
Illustration 6 g03460201
Once inserted to the desired length, use the hitch pin to lock the position.
Illustration 7 g03460256
Note: Make sure that the hitch pin is fully inserted and locked.
Consider the center of gravity before removing machine component so shifting of tool does not occur.
Do not lift at any angle other than vertical.
To avoid injury, do not stand on or between implement and machine while operating lift control
Note: The WLL of the hoist or lifting device must be more than the weight of the machine component being lifted and all the tooling used to lift it.
Follow the information in the specific Disassembly and Assembly Service Manual for the machine component to be lifted.
Tighten all bolts to standard torque.
Make sure that all hitch pins are fully inserted and secured.Inspection and Maintenance Section
Inspection
Inspect tooling prior to each use for damage, bending, nicks, burrs, dents, cracks, bent or worn parts. If damage is found, destroy the tool and dispose of as scrap. Replace damaged tool with new product.
Do not use unless the Working Load Limit (WLL) identification markings are legible.
Do not use if any holes are elongated or deformed.
Have the tool inspected annually by an approved dealership inspector.Cleaning
Clean the tooling using a non-solvent based cleaner.Storage
Store the tooling in a clean, dry location to prevent rust or corrosion. Tooling can be damaged by moisture or high humidity.
The tool should be stored in the most stable position. Store the tool laying flat.Tool Disposal
