(4) Port for pressure switch Oil filter (1) is fastened to the inner left side of the main frame. Oil from the hydraulic tank flows to the brake actuation pump section. The brake actuation pump section sends oil through inlet line (3) to oil filter (1).Oil goes through the inlet passage of oil filter (1). The oil fills the space between the inside of the housing and element. During normal operation, the oil goes through the element to the outlet passage. The oil exits through outlet line (2). The oil flows to the control valve (brake). The element stops any debris that is in the oil.If the filter element becomes full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil causes a pressure increase inside the filter. The pressure increase causes the bypass valve to move against the force of the spring. Also, the pressure switch will be activated and an alarm will be registered in the cab.The oil then flows past the open bypass valve to the remainder of the hydraulic system. When the oil does not go through the filter element, the debris in the oil will damage other components in the hydraulic system.Correct maintenance must be used in order to be certain that the element does not become full of debris. If the element is full of debris, the flow of clean oil to the hydraulic system will be stopped.
