Attach DO NOT OPERATE tags on the controls while the machine is being serviced.
Do not get under the push frame until the front engine is stopped and the ejector floor is blocked.
To Block the Floor Closed:
Elector carriage movement can cause serious injury as the carriage approaches the push block. Block the carriage as follows:
1. Move the ejector floor to the load (closed) position.2. Stop the front and rear engines.3. Turn off the tractor and scraper battery disconnect switches. Remove the keys.4. Attach a DO NOT OPERATE tag on the controls. 5. Remove the blocking pin retaining bolt. Remove the pin from the storage position. 6. Install the pin in position to block carriage movement.To Block the Floor Open:
Block the ejector floor open when it is necessary to make adjustments or perform maintenance with the floor (open) in the eject position.
Block the floor open as follows: 1. Lower the bowl with the tractor engine running. Move the ejector to the eject (open) position. Stop the engine. 2. Remove the blocking pin retaining bolt. Remove the pin from the block. 3. Turn the pin 90°. Insert it through the block, under the raised floor. Install the retaining bolt. Lower the apron onto the pin. Block the bowl when changing cutting edges or router bits. Activation of the cushion hitch control can cause movement in the hitch area-suddenly reducing clearances. Loosen the final drive fill plug slowly to relieve any pressure in the final drive compartment before removing the fill or drain plug. Use the self-attaching air check and stand behind the tread when inflating tires. Be sure the hood latch is secure when the hood is raised to prevent the hood from falling. When mounting or dismounting, do not use the steering wheel as a handhold. The machine could articulate. Use the steps and grab irons provided.There are certain hazards which must be recognized as potential causes of personal injury. Be aware of these hazards and follow the recommendations which are listed below. The recommendations are grouped to avoid:Crushing Or Cutting
Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving, or the engine is running.Any machine component can move if a control is moved, or a line breaks.To avoid possible weakening of the ROPS (Rollover Protective Structure), consult a Caterpillar dealer before altering the ROPS in any way. The protection offered by the ROPS will be impaired if it has been subjected to structural damage, or has been involved in an overturn incident.Support equipment when working beneath it. Do not depend on hydraulic cylinders to hold it up.The engine fan blades will throw or cut any object or tool that falls, or is pushed into them.Drive shaft and universal joints can catch loose clothing, wipe cloths, or hair.Wear gloves when handling cable. Do not use kinked or frayed cable, it is weakened.Wear protective glasses when hammering on steel, drifts, punches or chisels. Chips can fly from steel objects or the hammer.Never service the scraper while the tractor engine is running. Opening
