Lubricate all seals with 1P-0808 General Purpose Grease before installation.1. Install piston seals (13) and (14). It may be necessary to stretch seals (13) and (14) to ensure they stay in place during the assembly process. 2. Carefully put service brake piston (12) into position in the differential housing assembly. Install Tooling (A) and evenly tighten bolts (15) until service brake piston (12) is fully installed in the piston seals and housing. 3. Install reaction plate (11) over dowels (2). Install three springs (10) over dowels (2).
The continued use of the friction discs with 8.05 mm (0.317 inch) or less of friction material (depth of oil groove) will result in accelerated wear. Do not use the disc colour as an indication for wear. The overall thickness and groove depth are more important.
4. Inspect friction discs (6) for wear. Replace the friction discs if the friction material is 8.05 mm (0.317 inch) or less.5. Immerse the friction discs in clean differential oil. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, for the correct lubricant, for the machine that is being serviced.6. Install one friction disc (6) over adapter (5). Install reaction plate (7) and the remaining friction disc. Install one spacer (9) and one retaining ring (8) to each side of adapter (5). 7. Install as an assembly, friction discs (6) and reaction plate (7) attached to adapter (5). Install three springs (4) over dowels (2). 8. Install reaction plate (1) over dowels (2) and on to three springs (4). Ensure the wide section of the reaction plate is aligned correctly with the housing as shown. Use one of the drive axle shafts or a cut-off section of an axle shaft (16) as shown, to align the splines of the friction disc adapter with the differential. Ensure the splines are aligned before installing the parking brake group.9. Install four studs. End By:a. Install parking brake group.
