Keep the engine speed low for 10 seconds to allow the engine oil pressure to build.If the message center displays low oil pressure, stop the engine and investigate the cause before starting again. Failure to do so can cause engine damage.Turbocharger damage can result, if the engine speed is not kept low until the engine oil pressure is sufficient.
Run the engine at low idle. Cycle all hydraulic controls in order to allow warm oil to circulate through all hydraulic cylinders and through all hydraulic lines. This will aid the warm-up of the hydraulic components.To speed the warming of the hydraulic oil, hold the lift control in the RAISE position for short periods. This will allow the hydraulic oil to reach relief pressure so that the hydraulic oil warms more rapidly.Note: Do not hold the lift control in the RAISE position for more than ten seconds.Observe the indicators and the gauges frequently.The 3500B Engine uses a cold cylinder cut-out to reduce white exhaust smoke after start-up and during extended idling in cold weather. After the engine is started and the automatic ether injection system has stopped injecting ether, the electronic control module (ECM) will perform the cylinder cut-out on each cylinder in order to detect the cylinders that are firing. The ECM will disable all of the cylinders that are not firing.While you idle the engine for warm-up, observe the following recommendations:
In temperatures above 0°C (32°F), the suggested warm-up period is 15 minutes.
In temperatures below 0°C (32°F), the warm-up will require a period of at least 30 minutes.
If the temperature is below −18°C (0°F) or if the hydraulic functions are sluggish, the warm-up may require a longer period of time.
