Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all harness assemblies, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove cover (1).

Remove bracket (2) and bolt (3). Remove cover (4).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to box assembly (5). The weight of box assembly (5) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).
Remove bolts (6) and box assembly (5).

Disconnect harness assemblies (7), (8), and (9). Cut cable straps (10). Disconnect hose assembly (11).

Disconnect hose assemblies (12).

Disconnect harness assembly (13) and remove any mounting hardware for harness assembly (13).

Attach a suitable lifting device to generator (14). The weight of generator (14) is approximately 553 kg (1220 lb).
