PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Remove Adapter Group from Engine Flywheel
Refer to KENR8715 to remove Adapter Group from the Flywheel.
Drive Hub Removal
Caution: Removing the hub-drive can allow contamination to fall into the bearing.
Remove (16) M22 Bolts and Washers and remove the 329-6984 Coupling-Inner from the hub-drive.
Remove contamination around lip-seal using compressed air.
Remove M20 Bolt, Plate, & O-Ring and slowly remove Hub-Drive from shaft.
Inspect for any contamination that may have fallen into the bearing.
Clean and inspect the lip-seal and splines, and lightly lubricate both with Cat High-Speed Ball-Bearing Grease.
Clean and inspect the lip-seal running surface on the hub-drive.

Install New Drive Hub
A reworked 283-6710 Drive Hub is the same as a new 390-2042 Drive Hub. The 283-6710 Hubs need a radius added to bring them to the 390-2042 level. See details for radius rework below.

Install the 390-2042 Hub onto the shaft
Lightly lubricate the shaft splines with Cat High Speed Ball Bearing
grease or similar prior to assembly.
Install the 1S-7408 O-ring on the end of the shaft.
Install the 143-6120 Plate and 8T-0070 Bolt.
Tighten the bolt to a torque of 530+/-70 N-m.

New Coupling Installation
Install the 395-4219 Star-Hub coupling inner member).
Install the 5P-8249 Washers and 219-4481 (M22) Bolts (qty 16) to retain
the coupling onto the hub.
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 620 +/-80 N-m using a star pattern.

Attach Coupler to Flywheel
Use one of the two threaded holes to attach a lifting bracket to the coupler.
Assemble the outer coupler to flywheel with the help of guide rods/pin.
Bolt the outer coupler to the engine flywheel using 3E-4356 Washer and 8T-4193
Bolt (12 each).
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 240+/-40 N-m using a star pattern.

Apply 5N-5561 Silicone Lube Compound on the Star-Hub on adapter gp to aid
in assembly.

Assemble the adapter gp to flywheel housing with the help of guide
rods/pins.
Align the inner star hub to the outer hub and push the two halves
together.
Bolt the adapter group housing to flywheel housing using 039-8557 Washers
and 8T-4194 Bolts (16 each).
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 +/-20 N-m using a star pattern.
