Machine Preparation
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Place the steering frame lock in the LOCKED position
Raise the lift arm assembly and support the lift arm and work tool. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8859, "Lift Cylinder - Remove and Install " for procedure.
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8859, "System Pressure - Release" for procedure.Rework Procedure
Remove the cover on the non-engine end frame in order to gain access to the implement valve and lines.
Clean debris from implement valve, lift lines, and manifold. Cover/plug/cap all ports in order to prevent contamination.

Weld the 131-8684 Plate on the inside wall of the left-side front frame. This plate is used to clip the 371-3780 Tube As to the inside of frame. Refer to Illustration 2 for location and dimensions of the weld.

Replace the failed tube with a 371-3780 Tube As (7), split flanges, seals, bolts, washers, and 369-6069 Hose As (6) that are shown in Illustration 4.
Check the hydraulic oil level as described in the machines Operation and Maintenance Manual. Add hydraulic oil if necessary.
Operate the machine and check for leaks. Add hydraulic oil if necessary.
Install the cover on the non-engine end frame.
