Digging
To prevent loss of traction, avoid excessive down pressure on the bucket. Use bucket teeth when working in hard material.Loading From Stockpile
1. Position the bucket parallel to and just skimming the ground. 2. Drive forward into stockpile, forcing the bucket into material. 3. To aid in penetration by the bucket, work the titl control back and forth. 4. When loaded, tilt the bucket back completely. 5. Raise the bucket 40 cm (15 inches) or high enough to clear material being loaded. Shift the transmission to REVERSE. 6. Upon reaching the dump area, move the lift control to RAISE detent. At preset lift height, lift control will return to HOLD.Loading Hauling Units
1. To reduce loader turning and travel, position the hauling unit at an angle to material being loaded. Travel distance should be long enough for the bucket to reach the lift height without slowing the loader. 2. Position the loader to dump the load in the center of the hauler body. If hauler body is two buckets or more in length, load from front to rear. 3. If loading large rock, place a bucket load of smaller rock in the hauling unit first. This will cushion the hauling unit bottom against impact of larger material. 4. For controlled dumping, engage the tilt control lever for a short period, then return to HOLD. Repeat until the bucket is empty.5. Shake the bucket to loosen sticky material. Move the tilt control lever back and forth quickly, allowing arms to strike stops.
Allowing the tilt arms to strike the stops unnecessarily and repetitively, will result in accelerated wear and high maintenance cost of the loader linkage.
6. If possible keep the wind to your back when dumping. This will help to keep the dust out of your eyes. 7. Tilt the bucket back and lower to the loading position while moving the loader for another load.Loading From a Bank
Remove any overhang and watch for sliding material
1. Remove any overhang, before starting at base. Watch for sliding material. 2. For normal material loading, start at base of bank and follow up the face. 3. In extremely tight material, start at the top of the bank and work down.Excavating
1. Lower the bucket to the ground and position it for a slight digging angle. Increase the digging angle to aid penetration in the hard earth.2. As the loader starts forward, apply down pressure to the bucket. When sufficient penetration is obtained, return the lift control to HOLD.3. Maintain level cuts while moving forward, by raising and lowering the bucket.Cutting the Face of a Bank
To prevent the side load from pulling the bucket into the bank, use power turning when cutting the face of a bank. Start the cut. Drive the track next to the bank at a higher speed, by depressing the opposite steer pedal just enough to keep the machine in a straight line. Continue excavating without reducing load or backing out of cut. This technique and machine capability will allow a precise straight cut for
