Install retaining ring (1) with tooling (C) .

Install the shaft seal (2) with tooling (D). the seal lip should face the bearing.

Assemble shield (3) and heated sleeve (4) on axle shaft (5). Position the shield against the shoulder.

Install the assembled axle shaft (5) into the steer axle hub (6) .

Install the retaining ring (7) in order to secure the axle shaft with tool (C) .

Install the sun gear (8) on the axle shaft. Secure the gear with the retaining ring (9) .

Install the steer axle hub (6) and the axle shaft into the axle housing until the splines are seated in the side gear.

Install the shim (10) and the axle kingpin in the top of the steer axle hub (6). Install the axle kingpin without a shim in the bottom of the steer axle hub (6) .

Install bolts (11) and tighten to a torque of 117 N m (86 lb ft).
Move the steer axle hub back and forth. Use a torque wrench in order to check the rolling resistance. The rolling resistance should be 18 to 20 N m (13 to 15 lb ft). If the rolling resistance is greater than specification, remove the shim (10). Replace the shim with a thicker shim. If the rolling resistance is less than specification, remove shim (10). Replace the shim with a thinner shim.

Press both of the outer races firmly against the shoulder with tooling (E) .

Press in the shaft seal with the words on top until the seal is flush with tool (F) .

Assemble the heated bearing race (12) on the steer axle hub (6) until contact is obtained.

Install the hub (13) on the steer axle hub (6). Fix the hub with the heated inner bearing race (14) .

Assemble internal gear (15) and install bolts (16). Tighten bolts (16) to a torque of 68 N m (51 lb ft).End By: Install the planetary hub of the final drive. See Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive (Drive and Steering Axle) (Front) Assemble".
