Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Disconnect the harness (1) and the harness (3).
Remove the three mounting bolts and the magneto (2).
Remove the mounting bolts and the bracket.

Remove the mounting bolts and cover (7).
Remove the bushing.
Remove the bolt (9) and the coupling (6).
Attach a suitable lifting device to the housing assembly (7). Remove the four mounting bolts and washers. Install two 3/8 inch forcing screws. Remove the housing assembly (7). The housing assembly weighs approximately 20 kg (44 lb).
Remove the gear (8). Installation Procedure
Note: Index the drive slots on the magneto drive coupling to an angle of 34 degrees. This must be done when the flywheel is at top center compression stroke for the number one cylinder.
Install the gear (11) with the four bolts and washers (10).
Install the gear (8).
Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal on the housing assembly (7). Install the seal on the housing. Install the housing.
Install the coupling (6), the bolts (9), and the bushing.
Install the cover (4).
Install the mounting bolts and bracket (5).
Install the mounting bolts and the magneto (2).
Install the harness (1) and the harness (3). Ensure that the harnesses are installed in the original positions.
