Do not fill fuel filters with fuel before installing them. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system parts.
The fuel filter is located on the left side of the engine compartment.
Open the engine access door. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Access Doors and Covers".

Fuel Filter/Water Separator (Type 2)
Support the filter element (2) and rotate the locking ring (1) counterclockwise. Remove the locking ring.
Remove the filter element. Inspect the fuel filter for debris by cutting the filter open. Discard the filter properly.
Clean the mounting base of the fuel filter. Remove any part of the old seal that remains on the mounting base of the fuel filter.
Coat the seal of the new fuel filter with clean diesel fuel.
Install the new fuel filter by hand. Rotate the locking ring clockwise. When the seal contacts the base, tighten the locking ring for an additional three quarters of a turn.
Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Priming Pump - Operate".
Close the engine access door.
