The steering system has been significantly redesigned for the CB-534D Vibratory Compactor. The following major changes have been incorporated into the D-series machines:
New steering pump
New steering control unit
Load sensing steering system
Single steering cylinder
Cooling fan that is operated hydraulicallyThe following section discusses the features, locates the components, and explains the operation of the steering system on the CB-534D Vibratory Compactors.The steering hydraulic system on the D-series machine shares a common hydraulic tank with the propel system and the vibratory system, but the steering system has a separate pump. The hydraulic steering pump provides flow in order to operate the steering system and the cooling fan motor. The steering pump also provides charge oil to the propel system and the vibratory system. If the machine is equipped with the drum offset option, the steering pump provides flow to the drum offset manifold.The steering pump contains an integral priority valve and a relief valve. The priority valve ensures that the steering control unit (metering pump) receives sufficient flow. After the flow requirements for the steering system have been satisfied, the priority valve directs the remaining flow to the fan motor or to the optional drum offset manifold. The fixed displacement fan motor operates the cooling fan. The motor contains an integral relief valve. Outlet oil from the fan motor is directed to the charge filter.
