2. Open left rear access door (1) to the engine compartment.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure in the cooling system. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
3. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for disposal. Drain the coolant until the level is below the top tank of the radiator. 4. Remove six bolts (2) that hold connector (3) to the temperature regulator housing. Remove the connector, gasket and water temperature regulator from the temperature regulator housing. The following steps are for the installation of the water temperature regulator.
If the water temperature regulator is installed wrong, it will cause the engine to overheat.
5. Check the condition of the gasket used between connector (3) and the temperature regulator housing. If the gasket is damaged, use a new part for replacement.6. Put the gasket, water temperature regulator and connector (3) in position on the temperature regulator housing. Install six bolts (2) that hold the connector to the temperature regulator housing.7. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
