The new steering column boot is more flexible than the former design. The use of the new material should significantly reduce the possibility of breaking when under stress, especially in cold weather. To reduce the possibility of stress on the former or the new column boots, make sure the boot has clearance above and below the column. If not, loosen and reposition the column support in order to relieve the pressure. See the referenced Service Manual Module for removal and assembly instructions.Adaptable To: The improved 145-0344 Boot is a direct replacement for the former 4E-2714 Boot. The improved boot is effective with approximately Challenger 65D (2ZJ2526), Challenger 75D (5AR535), and Challenger 85D (4GR848) Agricultural Tractors. The improved boot is adaptable to all C and D Series Challenger Agricultural Tractors.
