Install Tooling (E) onto the rear of the machine. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 2700 300 N m (1991 221 lb ft).
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the capacity of the hydraulic oil tank.

Use Tooling (F) and remove bolts (6) and cover assembly (7) . The weight of cover assembly (7) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).

Remove bolts (8) and remove cover assemblies (9) and (10) .

Note: Put identification marks on all fittings and on all hose assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Disconnect fitting (11) from the swivel assembly. Disconnect hose assemblies (12) , (13) , (14) , (15) , (16) , and (17) from the swivel assembly.

Remove bolts (18) that secure the swivel assembly to the undercarriage of the machine.

Attach Tooling (G) and a suitable lifting device to cover assembly (20) . Remove bolts (19) and cover assembly (20) . The weight of cover assembly (20) is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

Remove plugs (21) from the motor.

Install Tooling (H) into the brake of the motor. Tighten the nuts against the housing in order to release the brake. Remove relief valves (22) and cover holes in order to prevent contamination. When the machine is moved a small amount of oil will be discharged from the holes.
Repeat Steps 19 and 21 for the other motor.

Place identifying marks on upper structure (23) , swing gear (24) , and undercarriage frame assembly (25) for assembly purposes.

Remove remaining bolts (3) from the front and from the rear of the machine.

Remove nuts (5) from the front and from the rear of the machine.

Note: It is important to keep upper structure (23) level when upper structure (23) is being removed or installed from the undercarriage frame assembly. If upper structure (23) is not kept level, binding of the pinion shafts in swing drive (26) and swing gear (24) will result. The clearance between the gears is minimal.
Use Tooling (C) and (E) and raise upper structure (23) . Raise upper structure (23) until the pinion shafts of swing drive (26) clear swing gear (24) . The weight of upper structure (23) is approximately 42184 kg (93000 lb).

Install Tooling (J) and a chain onto the undercarriage frame assembly (25) , as shown. Use a lift truck and slowly pull undercarriage frame assembly (25) away from the upper structure. The weight of undercarriage frame assembly (25) is approximately 22680 kg (50000 lb).
