And 163 Hydraulic Controls (One Valve) For D5 And D6 TractorsDescription of Change: A change has been made to the location of the hydraulic tank drain on 153 and 163 Hydraulic Controls (One Valve) for D5 and D6 Tractors. A block is now welded to the bottom corner of the tank for the drain plug adapter. This puts the drain opening near the bottom of the tank to make sure the maximum amount of oil can be drained. Formerly, the drain was in a higher location on the side of the tank, with a tube extended to a point near the bottom inside the tank. The principle of the former design was to remove the oil by syphon action (suction caused by the flow of oil), but air leakage around the drain plug sometimes prevented removal of all the oil.Adaptable As: Direct replacement. The part number of the 8J3503 Tank Assembly did not change.
