SteeringThe main drive shaft transfers power to the planetary power shift transmission. The power output from transmission turns the transfer and bevel gears. The transfer and bevel gears turn the inner axle shaft. The inner axle shaft sends power to the steering differential and to the planetary gears. The steering differential works with the planetary gears in order to send power through the two outer axle shafts to the final drives. The final drives use two planetary gear arrangements for double speed reduction. The sprockets on the final drives transfer mechanical power to the tracks that move the machine. Brakes are a part of planetary gears and steering differential. The brakes are applied by springs and are released by hydraulic pressure.
