Remove the oil filter and base (transmission lubrication). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oil Filter and Base (Transmission Lubrication) - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Position the oil filter and base (transmission lubrication) onto a suitable work bench.
Remove housing (2) from base (1).

Remove screen assembly (3) from housing (2).
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Hold retainer (5) in order to keep spring (6) in compression.
Use Tool (A) (not shown) in order to remove retaining ring (4).
Remove retainer (5) and spring (6) from housing (2).
Remove plug (7) and the O-ring seal from housing (2).

Remove bypass switch (8) from base (1).
Remove O-ring seal (11) from bypass switch (8).
Remove plunger (10) and spring (9) from base (1).

Remove fluid sampling valve (12) and the O-ring seal from base (1).
