2. Remove bolts (4) that hold the clamps for the overflow hose in place. 3. Remove the bolts that hold the fan guards to the radiator and guard. Remove fan guards (3).
Be extra careful not to cause damage to the radiator core when the fan is put against it.
4. Fasten a hoist to the fan as shown. Remove bolts (6) that hold the fan to the fan drive. Put fan (5) against the radiator core.5. Loosen four nuts (8) that hold the fan drive in place. Loosen belt tension adjustment bolt (7) until belts (9) can be removed from the pulleys. 6. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive. Remove nuts (8), washers and plates that hold the fan drive in place. Remove fan drive (10). The weight is 116 lb. (52 kg).7. Use two persons and remove fan (5). The weight is 66 lb. (30 kg).Install Fan And Fan Drive
Be extra careful not to cause damage to the radiator core when the fan is put in position against the radiator core.
1. Use two persons and put fan (2) in position against the radiator core. 2. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive. Put the fan drive (1) in position and install plates, washers and nuts (4) that hold the fan drive in place. Do not tighten the nuts at this time. Make a replacement of the belts as a set only. Check the belt farthest from the engine block. 3. Install belts (5). Tighten bolt (3) to make an adjustment to the belt tension. Use a belt tension gauge such as a Borroughs Tool Company Part No. BT-33-95 or equivalent. The correct gauge indication is 120 5 lb. (534 22 N) for a new belt. After Steps 5 through 8 are completed, operate the engine at high idle for a minimum of 30 minutes, then make another adjustment to the belt tension. The correct indication for a used belt is a gauge indication of 90 10 lb. (400 45 N). Used belt tension is for a belt which has more than 30 minutes of operation at rated speed of the engine.4. Tighten nuts (4).5. Fasten a hoist and put fan (2) in position on the fan drive. Install the bolts that hold the fan drive and fan together. 6. Install fan guards (6) on the radiator and guard. Do not tighten the bolts at this time. 7. Install bolts (8) and (10) that hold the fan guards together. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.8. Put overflow hose (7) in place and install bolts (9) that hold the clamps for the overflow hose to the radiator and guard. Tighten all the bolts at this time.
