Output Shaft BearingTorque converters that are integral to the transmission now use an improved bearing on the output shaft. The new bearing has improved radial load capacity. Transmissions with integral torque converters and transmissions with separate torque converters use different part numbers for the output shaft bearing.Applications for Torque Converters that are Integral to the Transmission
The 9U-9658 Ball Bearing has been cancelled and replaced with a three-piece roller bearing. The new bearing is made up of 5K-8591 Outer Bearing, 6V-4350 Roller Bearing Race, and 6V-4351 Inner Race Plate. The new three-piece bearing was part of a new torque converter group. The new torque converter group was effective with the machines that are listed in the following table.
Table 1
Model     Torque Converter Group     Machine PIN
966F Series II     146-3328     (S/N: 1SL2525, 2527-2532, 2534-2538, 2540, 2543, 2545-2567, 2619-2634, 2636-2648, 2650-2661 and 2663-UP)
(S/N: 9YJ3959, 3967, 3969, 3978, 3980-3996 and 3998-UP)
970F     146-3329     (S/N: 7SK0865, 0867-0882 and 0885-UP)
(S/N: 9JK0794-UP)
814F     146-3327     (S/N: 9DM0135-UP)
815F     146-3327     (S/N: 1GN0375-UP)
816F     146-3327     (S/N: 5FN0332-UP)    The three-piece bearing can be used in earlier torque converters that are not listed in the chart. The earlier torque converters require a slightly different installation procedure.Reference: Refer to Service Magazine, SEPD0396, "New Torque Converters Have Improved Output Shaft Bearings" for more information on installing the new three-piece bearings.Applications with the Torque Converters that are Separate from the Transmission
The following machines use a torque converter that is separate from the transmission.
Track-Type Tractor D5H (S/N: 8RC1-UP; 3MD1-UP; 4KD1-UP; 1DD1-UP; 94X1-UP; 99Y1-UP) D5H Series II Track-Type Tractor (S/N: 8RJ1-UP) D5 TSKH Series II (S/N: 7EG1-UP)
Track-Type Skidders 527 (S/N: 2RS1-UP; 3DS1-UP; 4NS1-UP) The new three piece bearing for the output shaft should not be used in torque converters that are separate from the transmission. Machines that have the torque converter separate from the transmission use a new 206-6405 Ball Bearing for the output shaft. The new 206-6405 Ball Bearing is a direct replacement for the former 9U-9658 Ball Bearing .
