Introduction
This Special Instruction contains the procedure to install the cover in the pump drive group on the machines listed above. The new cover is made of composite material that has a better retention of gear oil and enhances the lubrication of pump drive.Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.Required Parts

(1) The former part number listed is for reference only and may differ.Remove the 505-9189 Cap from 352-2183 Pump Drive Gp and install the 520-8157 Cover. Drain and refill with 75W140 synthetic gear oil. Follow the"Installation Procedure" to install the new cover on the pump drive group.Installation Procedure

Center punch
(A) 92 mm (3.6 inch)
Apply two opposite center punch marks 92 mm (3.6 inch) apart as shown in Illustration 1.

Drilling
Drill a 2.0 mm (0.08 inch) diameter pilot hole, 5 mm (0.2 inch) deep. Followed by drilling with a 6 mm (0.2 inch) diameter drill bit. Refer to Illustration 2.

Tapping
Tap M6 thread to the bottom of the hole.

(B) 505-9189 Cap
Use the recoilless hammer to knock the existing cap (B) deeper against the stop for the adhesive film to detach.

(C) Screws
Screw down the two M6 hexagon screws (C) to the bottom and remove the cap (B) with two 45° mounting levers.Alternatively, drill one hole in the center of the cap (B), tap it and use a slide hammer to remove the cap.

Clean the sealing faces on the housing and thoroughly remove any grease. Make sure that no foreign bodies enter the gearbox.

Thoroughly de-grease the cover (1) and apply Loctite 0648 on it.

Drive down the cover (1) with a press-fit plate and recoilless hammer until flush. Remove adhesive residues.
