(1) Timing mark on the camshaft gear
(2) Timing mark on the fuel injection pump gear
(3) Timing mark on the crankshaft gear
(4) Timing marks on the idler gear
Make sure that the marks on the gears are in alignment.
Measure the backlash between the camshaft gear and the idler gear. The backlash between the camshaft gear and the idler gear should be 0.08 mm (0.003 inch).
Measure the backlash between the crankshaft gear and the idler gear. The backlash between the crankshaft gear and the idler gear should be 0.08 mm (0.003 inch).
Measure the backlash between the idler gear and the fuel injection pump gear. The backlash between the idler gear and the fuel injection pump gear should be 0.08 mm (0.003 inch). Refer to the Specifications Module, "Gear Group (Front)" topic for additional information on the front gear group.
