Assembly Procedure

Thoroughly clean the internal parts of the valve before you assemble the valve. Inspect the condition of the inner parts of the valve for wear and damage. Replace the worn parts or damaged parts with new parts.

Install bushing (30) in the body.
Install new O-ring seal (34) on the body.

Position plate (33) on the valve body. Install bolts (32). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 29 2 N m (21.3 1.5 lb ft).

Install springs (27) in the body.

Note: Assemble washers (22) with the sharp edge upward, as shown. Do not push down seat (23) by more than 4 mm (0.16 inch).
Install washers (28), spring (25), and seat (23) on the stem. Hold the spool in a vertical position. Apply pressure on seat (23) in order to hold the seat approximately 4 mm (0.16 inch) down. Install half circular washer (22) .Note: Make sure that the lower edge of the spool does not make contact with the body while you install the spool.
Install the spool assembly into the body.

Install rod (17) and plug (21) as a unit. Install rod (16) and plug (21) as a unit.
Install new O-ring seals (20) on the plugs. Install new O-ring seals (19) on the plugs.

Install cover (18). Install bolts (15). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 12 1 N m (9 0.7 lb ft).

Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to the surface of disc (14) that makes contact with the ball. Install disc (14) .
Install shaft (12) .
Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to set screw (10). Install setscrew (10). Tighten the setscrew to a torque of 17 1 N m (12.5 0.7 lb ft).

Install lever (2) on the disc. Install bolts (9). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 29 2 N m (21.3 1.5 lb ft).

Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on the ball of the detent valve.
Install the detent valves. Tighten plug (7) of the detent valve to a torque of 41 3 N m (30.2 2.2 lb ft).Note: Make sure that the bellows fit in the groove of the cover in order to keep water and dust from the inner parts.
Spray antirust oil on the inner parts of the valve. Install the rubber bellows (1) on the top of the cover.
